ADVISING AND REGISTRATION FOR SPRING 2009
October 19, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Believe it or not, it’s almost time to register for spring semester. The registrar will post the spring class schedule on Wednesday, October 22nd. Registration begins on Sunday, November 9th at 10pm for those students who have over 90 credits. For those students under 90 credits, registration begins at 10pm on Monday, November 10th. For useful links on online registration, please visit http://honors.camden.rutgers.edu/advising.
The Honors College will be having early advising appointments on Friday, October 24th, Oct. 27th to the 31st, and Nov. 3rd to the 7th for students who need assistance in planning their schedules. Sign-up sheets will be posted on Robert Emmons’ office. Additional advising times will be posted for the week of November 10th. PRE-PHARM STUDENTS PLEASE NOTE that Robert will not be available for advising until Tuesday, October 28th.
Freshmen will need to take their second Honors Seminar in Spring 2008. Sophomores will need to take their last Honors Seminar. A list of honors seminars and descriptions for Spring 2008 will be posted shortly on the Honors College website. Once the class schedules are posted by the registrar, you can obtain your Special Permission Numbers for the Honors Seminars from Mary Clare or Robert. Seniors graduating in January or May must show that they have completed the requirements for the Honors College by filling out a Senior Review Checklist which can be found at http://honors.camden.rutgers.edu/forms.htm. Fill out the form and drop it off to Robert or Mary Clare.
If you have a major in mind, you should go to the registrar and declare your major. It is simple, but must be done in person. Once you formally select your major, it will be easier to use degree navigator (http://www.camden.rutgers.edu/degreenavigator/). The Degree Navigator helps you keep track of the courses you have taken and the courses you need to graduate in the major. Guides for using Degree Navigator are on my desk.
Cheers,
Mary Clare

Creamy Acres Night of Terror!
October 10, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Hey guys!
Every year, we take a trip to Creamy Acres farm around Halloween time, and it’s one of our favorite HSO events! Creamy acres Night of Terror is a fun filled night of haunted houses, hayrides, mazes, new things we’ve yet to see, and all that good bonding and lots of laughs.
We’ll meet right outside the library at 6:00 on Thursday, October 16th and leave when everyone gets there. We can carpool, so anyone who’s willing to drive, please let us know!
To officially claim your spot on the trip, you have to sign up by Mary Clare’s desk in the library, and you will give her your money up front. We’re getting a group rate, and that price is $16 a person. You can definitely bring friends, but they have to be paid for up front as well.
We’ll go to Hollywood Diner afterward for even more fun!
Any questions call us!!

Tips for Freshmen
August 28, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Greetings from sunny Camden! Thanks to all those who came out to Dave and Buster’s on Tuesday. We had 65 people total–our biggest turnout for a pre-orientation trip. My apologies for the Journey concert traffic on the way back. But, as you all know, you can’t stop the rock.
I wanted to give you all a few tips for the start of your college careers.
1. Email – If you have not already done so, set up your Camden email address as soon as possible. That is the address that the university and all your professors will use. You can visit here to set up your new email. If you wish to keep your old gmail, yahoo, etc. account, you may choose to have your Camden email forwarded to your other account. However, you still need to set up your Camden email.
2. IDs – If you have not already gotten your Rutgers ID at the Impact Booth in the Campus Center, take care of that ASAP. You need your ID to print from the labs, to get into the library and dorms, etc.
3. Books – You can check to see if the list is up for the books your courses will use at the bookstore website. You will need you course numbers which are below and to the left of the course name. Visit the bookstore website here. You can also go to the bookstore with a print out of your courses and ask an attendant to help you locate your books in the store. A word of advice: try to buy some of your books online. You can also wait to purchase books until after your first class to see which texts are absolutely required.
Keep checking the HC blog for news, info, and tips. Stop by the 2nd floor of the library to say hello or to hang in the lounge. Good luck on your first day!
Cheers,
MC

School Starts on Tuesday!
August 28, 2008 · Leave a Comment
It was nice seeing all the freshmen at Dave and Buster’s on Tuesday. I posted the photos on my facebook page (see blogroll at right). BTW, students have started to tag themselves in the group photo. Feel free to do so, as it helps us to get to know everyone.
We’ll be in the office Tuesday starting at 8:30. If you have any questions or need advice, please drop by. The Honors area is also a good place to meet people. So, drop by the lounge, the computer area, the offices, and get to know other honors students.–AW
